Is Ray Horton out as Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator?

  • Browns Gregg Williams From Bountygate to Berea AP

That unit could not clog up rushing lanes or generate enough pressure on the opposing quarterback.

Horton was handicapped with a young defense that experienced a rash of injuries in the secondary, but except for linebacker Emanuel Ogbah, none of the rookies showed much improvement as the season progressed.

Williams most recently served as the Los Angeles Rams' defensive coordinator this past season, and held the same position for three years before the team relocated to California from St. Louis (2012, 2014-2015). When Horton joined head coach Hue Jackson's staff, he was still being paid from the 2013 season as the Browns defensive coordinator. Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak retired after the 2016 season.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher was sacked during the season.

"Similar to #Chargers offensive staff, #Rams defensive staff is hanging with the hopes an offensive-minded coach keeps them", Rapoport tweeted.

Macy's to cut 10000 jobs amid store closures
A total of 68 stores out of 730 across the country will close in this round, causing about 6,200 jobs to be pared nationally. Because of the store shutdowns, Macy's said it expects 2017 sales to see a negative impact of $575 million.

Other staffing changes could be coming soon.

If I were a Browns fan, I would be praying for Williams to turn that job down so that Wade Phillips is hired.

Williams gained national attention during his time as the defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints, where it was discovered by NFL investigators that he instituted and ran a bounty program that rewarded defenders for injuring opposing players on the team's run to a Super Bowl title. "Our staff worked extremely hard this year, but I think as being one of the leaders with these men here, we have to go back and look at it all and see how we can get better".

Notoriously trigger-happy Browns owner Jimmy Haslam followed through on his word not to make wholesale changes after what turned out to be the worst season in franchise history. That said, it's not a given he's going to leave Denver, nor is it a given Williams is out in Los Angeles. He is making changes on his staff.
