  • Look At What We Eat: BSF Jawan Whose Videos Went Viral Shifted

The jawan, Tej Bahadur Yadav made serious allegations: of them not getting enough food to eat, of them getting badly cooked meals and of how they, the jawans had to starve because the "corrupt officers" siphoned off ration meant for them. In the videos, the BSF jawan talked about low quality food served to soldiers posted at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. In the video, the jawan claimed that while the government procures essentials for them, the higher-ups and officers sell it off in an illegal manner in the market.

"I have seen the video on the BSF jawan's plight and have asked the home secretary to immediately seek a report from the BSF and take appropriate action", said Union home minister Rajnath Singh.

These videos posted by Yadav have gone massively viral on Facebook.

"I can agree that taste of the food might not be very great but have never received any complaint from jawans regarding the same", he said.

Yadav had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to probe the matter in the video.

He posted three videos with shots of runny dal and dried chappatis with him adding that there are times when a soldier goes to sleep empty stomach.

Family Unaware of Soldier Tej Bahadur's Whereabouts or Condition: On Wednesday, the BSF Jawan's family Tej Bahadur's wife Sharmila rubbished the claims that the BSF Jawan was mentally unstable.

In the video, he says, "We only get a "parantha" and tea as breakfast and this is without any pickle or vegetables. we slog for 11 hours and at times we have to stand throughout the duty hours".

Assuming that the "official" BSF reaction is correct leads to the inevitable question: why was this man with a "difficult past" who needed "regular counselling" manning a high altitude post near the global border? "A senior officer has already rchd (reached) the location", came a tweet from the BSF official Twitter handle. "He has been found guilty of hitting his senior officer with a rifle butt and drinking alcohol on duty".

As a result of the above, the hashtag #BSFJawan was trending on Twitter, with many supporting Yadav and criticising the army's attempts to denounce and repudiate his allegations.

Initially set to retire in October 2032, Yadav will now leave service at the end of January, BSF officials said, adding that he had applied for voluntary retirement.
