  • A screen grab from Tom Oye's video showing the snowboarder getting swept down a steep slope by an avalanche

Tom - originally from Australia but now living in Canada - racked up millions of views on his video after sharing it on social media.

Tom Oye posted helmet-cam video of the terrifying incident on Facebook, where it has been viewed nearly three million times.

"Oh shit", Oye can be heard saying as the avalanche starts to slow.

Is Ray Horton out as Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator?
If I were a Browns fan, I would be praying for Williams to turn that job down so that Wade Phillips is hired. That said, it's not a given he's going to leave Denver, nor is it a given Williams is out in Los Angeles.

Oye then took to Facebook and made light of the situation. It was a good day to drop some F bombs.

Oye posted this with the video: "Not how I planned on starting the morning.stay safe out there kids!" Oye wrote on Facebook. Plus, the guy coming in at the end of the video on the snowmobile is amusing.

The life-saving backpack was just given to him at Christmas by friends. A surprisingly calm-sounding Oye declares, "That was a little scary".

To all my awesome homies who pitched in to get me a surprise early birthday present while I was home, I'm sure you had absolutely no idea what the hell it was you were buying me, so here it is.

During the terrifying fall, Mr Oye inflates his backpack, specifically created to keep skiers and snowboarders near the surface in an avalanche.
