"Celebrate Martin Luther King Day and all of the many wonderful things that he stood for".

On Monday, CNN's Jim Acosta pressed Martin Luther King III over Donald Trump's criticism of Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), asking if the president-elect's attack "cut to his core" as the son of a civil rights leader.

"Non-emergency municipal offices in Biloxi will be closed on Monday in observance of Great Americans Day", read the tweet. Debra Conyers of East Orange, New Jersey, said she was a toddler in 1963 when Martin Luther King gave his "I Have a Dream" speech.

Lewis recalled being beaten in Selma, Ala. during an attack on demonstrators by state troopers in 1965 that came to be known as Bloody Sunday.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a pivotal leader in the Civil Rights Movement.

"Dr. King laid a foundation for future generations to build on, but we need to understand what it took to build that foundation". He wants this done so that the holiday can be recognized for its official name of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

"This area in particular, Couterie Forest is like a hidden gem in the park and in the city so we'd like to try and keep it up for the public so that everyone can use", Tyler Havens, the Volunteer Manager for City Park said.

It is observed on the third Monday of January each year, which is around King's birthday on Jan. 15. After all, Dr. King was a civil rights activist, not an author who was selling his work. The president-elect took to Twitter over the weekend to push back, saying the Georgia Democrat is "All talk, talk, talk - no action or results".

Bonner said that's the reason the committee has adopt the motto: "Keeping the Dream Alive One Generation to Another".

Our reporters will provided live updates from the march, and this post will be updated throughout the day.
