Bucks' Parker Injured in Loss to Heat

  • Next Stop Milwaukee For Heat Team Looking To Win 12th Straight

The Heat beat the Milwaukee Bucks by a final score of 106-88 to extend the streak, which is the longest in the Eastern Conference this season. That was an ACL injury and Parker needed surgery, which ended his rookie season far too early and delayed the start of his sophomore year.

Parker is averaging 20 points, six rebounds and three assists this season and his loss would surely derail the Bucks' already sluggish season.

Among prominent athletes who have suffered ACL tears in recent years are Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson; New York Knicks and former Chicago Bulls player Derrick Rose; and Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber. Teammates had to help him to the locker room. "Parker will undergo surgery to fix the injury and will miss the remainder of the 2016-17 season". It is the same knee that Parker injured in his rookie season, and in similar fashion.

Jabari Parker has suffered another significant knee injury. Parker hurt the same knee two seasons ago. Milwaukee has length for days so they are top-10 in both blocks and steals but their overall weak defense is one reason why their record is 22-29. The air in the building wasn't sucked out by Parker's injury in the third quarter - it hadn't been there at the opening tap.

The latest injury occurred on the same night that guard Khris Middleton returned from a hamstring injury.

Senate Committee Confirms EPA Administrator Without Democratic Support
No Republican has come out against his nomination, though the vast majority of Democrats are likely to oppose him. Democrats boycotted a hearing to vote on Pruitt's nomination yesterday .

That wasn't the case, however, and the Bucks will now be without one of their brightest young stars for the rest of the season and into the 2017-18 campaign.

Antetokounmpo was days away from being named an All-Star starter and Parker reasonably could expect consideration as a reserve based on his strong first half.

The seriousness of the injury was confirmed during an MRI exam on Thursday.

Secondly, and of far greater significance, where does this leave the franchise's long-term roster plans and what are the chances of seeing Parker playing at his best in the National Basketball Association again? Parker was in line for something near a max offer, and potentially even to get the five-year maximum designated player extension that the Bucks did not give Giannis Antetokounmpo because he was willing to take slightly less than the max for four years.

David Altchek, the team physician for the New York Mets, performed the first ACL surgery on Parker.
