'The Batman' Has Found a New Director

  • 'The Batman' Has Found a New Director

Shortly after Affleck stepped down as director, it was also reported in Variety that the script he wrote with Geoff Johns was already rewritten, and the script could get a complete do-over once Reeves takes over.

It appears Warner Bros/DC have decided who will replace Ben Affleck in the director's chair on "The Batman" - and it's Matt Reeves.

Ben Affleck is still going to star in and produce the new Batman movie for Warner Bros., but he felt he needed to find a "partner in a director", as he put it, to helm the project.

Dawn of the Planet of Apes followed in 2014 and Reeves, repped by CAA, is now in post with War for the Planet of the Apes, which Fox opens July 14. Solo Batman films have proven both profitable and popular in the past, although following Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy is no simple task. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. Matt Reeves might be the closest thing to the level of that as he has proven he can produce artful smart films while working on big blockbuster films in the studio system. He is still starring as the Caped Crusader, but stepping away from the director's chair because, in his words, "It has become clear that I can not do both jobs to the level they require". Dawn earned near-universal critical acclaim for its storytelling and its seamless blending of live-action and motion capture characters, and established Reeves as a genre tentpole force, a status that will only be enhanced by War for the Planet of the Apes.

She has repeatedly said an organization that provides abortions should not receive federal funding for any services it provides. Ben Cline, R-Amherst, sponsored the legislation, which Republicans overwhelmingly supported and Democrats vigorously opposed.

Other directors who were on Warner Bros list were Ridley Scott and Fede Alvarez (Don't Breathe).

"The Batman" does not have a release date.

The Batman hits theaters sometime in 2018. Fingers crossed for The Batman to start production by 2017, especially considering how fast they found their new director.
