  • Watch Metallica and Lady Gaga overcome technical difficulties at the Grammys

Despite some mic problems, Lady Gaga and Metallica did a killer performance at the 59th GRAMMY Awards.

Although the performance of "Moth Into Flame" got off to a very rocky start because of a bad mic, it is not expected to derail interest in the band's first US tour in seven years. Literally. The flames in the background upped the intensity, and Gaga even jumped into the crowd, proving to those who doubted this team-up that she can rock.

Lady Gaga's Super Bowl halftime performance blew everyone's mind away. And while Lady Gaga was indeed onstage, she was just there singing backup for the 110-million-record selling - and eight-time Grammy winning - band.

The insider told the publication: " Tom has had a hard year with Linda's death and Priscilla has been an wonderful support". Sir Tom was a close friend of Elvis and spent a lot of time with both him and Priscilla in the late sixties and seventies.

Watch the full performance via Billboard here. Gaga and the rest of the band did an fantastic job to keep the performance alive, while Hetfield would eventually give up and share a mic with Gaga for much of the performance. But the real crime was not that Gaga performed with Metallica, rather that a technical malfunction caused lead singer James Hatfield's microphone to short out and not work. "I always used to say to people, when they would say, 'Oh, she's the next Madonna.' No, I'm the next Iron Maiden". Gaga and the band's line check, right before the performance, went off without a hitch. I can, though, be objective when talking about a performance when it happens to be really good. Lady Gaga is no stranger to unusual collaborations herself, having released an album with Tony Bennett in 2014.

Metallica was up for one Grammy this year for Best Rock Song for "Hardwired", but lost to David Bowie's "Blackstar".
