Humana to drop ObamaCare plans in 2018

Since 2014, Humana has been a key player in Tennessee's health care exchange, at least in its major cities.

None of the health care reform plans now under discussion in Washington address the critical issue of paying for coverage for sick people, according to an MIT economist who had a hand in crafting the federal Affordable Care Act.

"We all as health care professionals bought into (the program) several years ago when the ACA came out; not because it was flawless, but because it had great goals", said Susan Fox, president and CEO of White Plains Hospital. The ACA was passed by Congress despite the opposition of the congressional Republicans. A bipartisan forum consisting of democratic representatives Tina Liebling and Duane Sauke, and republican senators Carla Nelson and Dave Senjem, addressed around 60 attendees who had concerns about the future of their health care coverage, and other pressing matters such as mental health care, and care for those with disabilities.

"As far as I know they're not allowed to take any of that away", Lum said.

Yet, under Trump and a Republican majority House, Congress is poised to repeal the ACA, withdrawing healthcare from up to 18 million Americans and costing the loss of three million jobs - all to get their comfortable health smorgasbord back in full swing.

Bertolini said mounting financial losses of $450 million in Affordable Care Act business forced Aetna's decision past year to cut its participation in health care exchanges in hundreds of counties. "Within the next month, insurers have to start submitting rates and deciding where they're going to participate. Current alternative plans have no answer for that". "It's worse than the dog who caught the auto", said Jesse Ferguson, a strategist advising Democrats on health care. Obamacare supporters called it a transition period that would only last a year.

There may be different paths to achieving these health care goals.

The High Election Board will announce the date for referendum, but the procedure requires April 16 for the popular vote. Erdogan says the reforms will provide stability and prevent a return to fragile parliamentary coalitions of the past.

Now Johnson has shed the hysteria.

Coffman's dedication to finding a replacement before repeal puts him at odds with many in his party.

Sanford told CNN in an interview to preview the bill that it is simply not tenable for Republicans to repeal Obamacare without a replacement plan.

These days he's not so bold. "They're unable to continue to go to school and the disconnect is that the cost to the community when we sort of ignore these ongoing issues is they end up in homeless shelters, they end up in jail".

Or sooner. Arguably, Republicans already own the instability in the health-care system that their inaction has caused.

The survey found 81 percent of voters support the state or federal government offering low-priced, comprehensive health insurance to workers earning $34,000 a year or less.
