The third Jewish cemetery was vandalized in the United States Thursday - this one in Rochester, New York.

"The Jewish community is an integral part of NY, we have the largest Jewish population outside of Israel", he said.

This significant move on New York's part follows Cuomo's June executive order, the first in the U.S., which forces state entities to drop investments linked to the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign.

"We stand arm in arm with the Jewish community through this time of hardship", Cuomo continued.

NY has the largest Jewish population in the world outside Israel.

Monday was the fifth wave of bomb threats against Jewish community centers around the country since the beginning of the year. "If anything it seems like it's getting worse". "And I'm confident that we will find the people behind this illegality and ugliness". "It is repugnant to everything we believe as New Yorkers, and we will continue to do everything in our power to bring to justice those responsible for these cowardly attacks on the values we hold dear".

In addition to the bomb threats, Cuomo noted there has been desecration of Jewish cemeteries, racist slogans, and swastikas that have cropped up across the state, the country and in Canada. The Jewish Federation says the act must be treated as a crime motivated by anti-Semitism.

Cuomo said Wednesday that he will propose $25 million in the state budget for security at facilities like the JCC, and there is now a $5,000 reward for tips leading to prosecution in the case. "NY is and always has been a place that celebrates diversity and religious tolerance, and we say to all New Yorkers who feel unsafe - we will always protect you".

Cuomo says state police have been organized and given additional resources to investigate these types of activities.
