Alex Burmistrov leaves game on stretcher after crushing check by Colin Miller

03 March, 2017, 01:10 | Author: Felix Jensen

Boston was the site of a scary scene in the National Hockey League on Tuesday night, as Arizona Coyotes forward Alexander Burmistrov left the game on a stretcher following a big open-ice hit by Colin Miller.

At 3:49 of the second period, rookie defenseman Jakob Chychrun sent a short pass near the Coyotes' defensive blue line to Burmistrov.

Mainly because his shoulder did make contact with Burmistrov. Burmistrov was caught in an awkward position following a questionable pass from one of his Coyotes teammates, who's arguably more at fault for the outcome than Miller.

While Burmistrov did remain on the ice for a decent chunk of time, he was able to give fans in Boston the thumbs up sign as he was stretchered off the ice for further evaluation.

Wild trade for Hanzal and White
Fletcher wanted to acquire the 6-foot-6 playmaker but also keep him away from competitors in the Western Conference. Hanzal has several years left, but the Coyotes made a decision to move on by giving him a chance to win this year.

As Pete Blackburn notes in his tweet, Miller was ejected following the hit and will not be able to return to play tonight for the Bruins.

The aftermath caused the injury, and the injury caused the game misconduct.

Officials apparently disagreed, so it will be interesting to see how the league's Department of Safety responds to the incident.
