Cleveland Browns reportedly considering Mitch Trubisky 1st overall

Amidst virtually every mock draft projecting Texas A&M pass rusher Myles Garrett to the Browns, beat writer May Kay Cabot is reporting the team is "strongly considering" North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky with the No. 1 overall pick.

With free agency riches to spend and talent gaps nearly everywhere, the Cleveland Browns are listening to trade offers for the top pick in this year's NFL Draft.

Browns head coach Hue Jackson knows what he wants in a quarterback, and he outlined it Thursday at the NFL's annual scouting combine.

"I think we'd like to have Terrelle back and that's a priority for us", Brown said, in a story on the team's website on Wednesday. "I think we have an idea heading into it who are the guys that we really want to see more and find out more about, but I think it's way early to make a decision about exactly where that position is".

"We would have to wait and see what might come, and what player might be available there as we get through this process", he said.

What Mike Mayock's Gut Tells Him Ravens Will Do At No. 16
It's highly unlikely that Howard will still be available when the Patriots are on the clock with the 32nd overall pick. But if the Broncos want to import a new offensive tackle, he sees free agency as their best bet.

Cleveland has many needs, none bigger than quarterback. I think it worked well for New England.

The Cleveland Browns have chose to not place the franchise tag on wide receiver Terrelle Pryor and are now putting the ball firmly in the court of their most dynamic playmaker.

Finding a quarterback has been a decades-old failed mission for the Browns.

Reports Wednesday indicated the Patriots are determined to keep Garoppolo, but that could be posturing to drive up the price on the trade market. That's just one reason why Brown doesn't regret making that deal, even though Cleveland received criticism for passing on the opportunity to add Carson Wentz, who had a solid rookie year for Philadelphia. They enter free agency next week with about $100 million to spend, more than any National Football League rival's room under a salary cap of $167 million per team, and needs at quarterback.

"No", Brown said, smiling again. You look forward to having an opportunity to meet them. "Kind of our worst case scenario (is) we have a bevy of young, talented players that we frankly need to build our foundation and move on".
