Despite the relatively mild winter, the flu has been an issue across the state, with the Ohio Department of Health reporting 742 new confirmed influenza-associated hospitalizations in the last week, up from the 576 new hospitalizations reported the week before.

The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services said Thursday that the death toll from the flu stands at 63.

More Oklahomans contracted the flu over in a widespread flu outbreak.

Flu deaths continue to spike in North Carolina.

Officials apparently disagreed, so it will be interesting to see how the league's Department of Safety responds to the incident. The aftermath caused the injury, and the injury caused the game misconduct.

"We find the burden of hospitalizations for the flu is really in the age 55 plus population", explained Heidi Dragoo with the Mesa County Health department. The health district reported that young children have been hit particularly hard this year, with five pediatric deaths reported across the state.

One of the other four Forsyth victims was Autumn Savannah Jessup, 12, a seventh-grade student at Jefferson Middle School who died February 14, said James Womack, a funeral attendant at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home Inc.in Madison.

The county says while children under six months old can not get a flu shot, there are other ways to protect them. Signs to watch for include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headaches, chills and fatigue.

A summary from the agency said the flu was widespread in North Carolina during last week. Stay home and go to a physician right away if symptoms persist. State health officials say flu season has already killed dozens around the state and they are encouraging people to hurry and get a flu shot if they haven't already. It's not too late to get a flu vaccine. Oklahoma remains in a "widespread" flu activity category.
