A Belmont woman accused of injecting her friend with heroin while she was in labor claims the court system is "ruining her life".
Concord police arrested the expectant mom earlier this week, six months after her son was born. She and the child were taken to a hospital, and the baby was placed in state custody, police said.
After she was unable to inject herself, she demanded her friend, 37-year-old Rhianna Frenette, give her heroin and methamphetamine before calling emergency services, reports CBS Boston.
Farruggia and Frennette were both arrested this week and charged with reckless conduct.

Both women have criminal records; Farruggia also has been involved in "guardianship of a minor" cases, an individual parenting petition and a custody petition, going back to 2005.
