North Korea has claimed that the man, carrying a passport with the name Kim Chol, was not the half-brother of North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un. After 2012, Han Sol went on to study at the Le Havre campus of the French university Sciences Po, where he lived under police protection, according to one of his fellow students who says he was last in touch with Han Sol several months ago.

The video featuring Nam's 21-year-old son was uploaded to YouTube by the group "Cheollima Civil Defense", which was said to have "extracted" some members of Kim Jong Nam's family.

"My name is Kim Han Sol, from North Korea, part of the Kim family", the man says in slightly accented English.

Malaysia on Friday confirmed that the North Korean citizen killed last month at Kuala Lumpur International Airport is Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, a police official said.

The Associated Press reports that an unnamed official from South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) has determined that the man in the video is Kim Han Sol.

The video was also posted on the Cheollima Civil Defence website, along with a statement saying the group was protecting Kim Jong-nam's family.

"We would like to express our gratitude to the government of the Netherlands, the Chinese government, the United States government and an anonymous government for supporting the evacuation of a family in an emergency", it said.

After Kim was assassinated at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 on February 13, police found a North Korean diplomatic passport on his person in the name of Kim Chol.

North Korea wants to secure tangible military assistance from China in order to prepare against possible Japanese attacks that could be launched in the event of a war on the Korean Peninsula, he said.

North Korea has denied any connection to the death, but South Korea has accused Pyongyang of ordering the killing.

The group also thanked countries which it claimed helped it provide protection for the Kim Jong Nam family.

"They are clearly being watched by North Korea who will most likely be trying to control their movements".

"The AFC Competitions Committee have taken the decision to postpone the tie after escalating diplomatic tension between the Governments of DPR Korea and Malaysia", the AFC said in a statement.

Three Malaysian embassy staff and six family members remain stuck in Pyongyang after North Korea barred Malaysians from leaving the country on Tuesday, prompting a tit-for-tat move by Malaysia.
