Big Ten Tournament bracket 2017: MI wins Big Ten title

  • NCAA Tournament Selection Committee

It's been said before and even more throughout the weekend.

The announcement comes after a 20-12 season under coach Brad Underwood, who led Oklahoma State to an NCAA Tournament appearance after the Cowboys failed to make the tournament in 2016 with a 12-20 record. It upset No. 1 seed Purdue in overtime on Friday, then bet Minnesota in the semifinals on Saturday. MI covered the spread in both games. MI has already marched to the finals with key wins over Illinois, Purdue and Minnesota, now a victory over Wisconsin would put the Wolverines in five to six seed territory for the NCAA Tournament.

MI stormed out of the gates with a sensational start at the offensive end. Now they needed to do the little things to extend it.

Derrick Walton Jr. doesn't want his MI career to end.

Top star: Derrick Walton Jr., Michigan. Walton then sparked another run with consecutive triples to give U-M its largest lead of the half, 30-20, with 5:22 left.

He leads the team in scoring, assists and steals, and the 6-foot-1 guard is second on the team in rebounds. Now, it's the Big Ten champion.

Since Wisconsin won its first tournament game, the 35-member band that traveled to the nation's capital has meticulously tried to maintain a constant pre-game routine, including listening - and dancing - to "All of the Above" by Maino featuring T-Pain each day as the bus pulled up to the Verizon Center.

USMNT to play Haiti or Nicaragua in Cleveland
A third-place finish would see the United States play at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. on Thursday, July 20. Joining them in the second group are surprising qualifiers Martinique, and the victor of a Nicaragua/Haiti play-in game.

It was 51-45 before Irvin and Duncan Robinson sandwiched three-pointers around a basket by Hayes for a 10-point cushion with 3:51 left.

His injury required five stitches in his leg, but it didn't slow him down. The Wolverines haven't been lucking out in these wins, they are playing at a really high level and starting to get some big contributions from their starting five. Ethan Happ has 12 and Nigel Hayes has 10. Minnesota redshirt junior center Reggie Lynch entered the game ranked second in the country with 3.6 blocks per game. And make no mistake: Wisconsin is a good team that played well, too. Scottie Lindsey, who scored 16 points and hit 5 of 10 from the field, was the only bright spot.

In just 18 minutes because of foul trouble, Wagner hit two threes and was 6-of-7 from the floor against Minnesota.

But it was Minnesota that had a hot start to the second half, doing work in the paint before getting three straight triples from Dupree McBrayer and Nate Mason to cap a 15-4 run and tie the game at 55 with about 13 minutes remaining.

Virginia Tech's Zach LeDay celebrates after dunking the ball against Miami late in the second half of an NCAA college basketball game, Monday Feb. 27, 2017, at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va. Virginia Tech won 66-61.

Although it led by just one heading into halftime after a Bronson Koenig 3-pointer, MI controlled the game most of the afternoon, never letting the lead slip away. The Wolverines have the offensive firepower to get the job done. "This hat feels real good on my head".
