  • Twitter Accounts Hijacked With Nazi Messages

"The majority of messages were posted in Turkish, featuring hashtags such as "#NaziHollanda" or "#Nazialmanya" which roughly translates to "Nazi Mania".

According to Bloomberg, the attackers' Tweets included a swastika and described the hack as a "little Ottoman slap".

Messages also mentioned the date April 16, when Turkey will hold a constitutional referendum seeking to give more power to the president. Twitter Counter informed users that it has now cut off tweet posting through its system and changed its Twitter app key.

Twitter Counter also was the target of a hack attack in mid-November that led some of the high-profile Twitter accounts linked to the company's app to spew out spam tweets, including those of soccer star Lionel Messi and gaming sites Sony Playstation and Microsoft Xbox.

The official twitter handle of Twitter Counter notes: "We're aware that our service was hacked and have started an investigation into the matter. If this activity continues, then we strongly believe it's not just through us".

BBC North America, Amnesty International, Reuters Japan, and Duke University, are some of the numerous Twitter accounts that were hacked.

Game of Thrones season 7
Meanwhile, on a report from Express UK , one important character will reportedly be facing trouble on "Game Of Thrones" season 7. The eagerly awaited penultimate season, which promises a "Great War", won't hit United Kingdom screens until 17 July.

While specific details on the hack have not yet been revealed, third-party app Twitter Counter, confirmed early Wednesday that its service was hacked.

Several accounts appear to have been targeted as part of the hack, including worldwide news organisations and high profile politicians.

There is speculation that a pro-Erdogan activist group called the Cyber Warrior is behind the widespread hack. Make sure you are also reviewing your Twitter feed on a regular basis to ensure no tweets are being posted that you're not aware of. "Our teams are working at pace and taking direct action on this issue", he said.

Twitter is pointing people to its support website, which recommends that people "be cautious before giving third-party applications access to your account [and] review third-party applications that have access to your account from time to time".

A company spokesperson is quoted as saying that the source had been tracked to a third party app whose permissions had been removed. "No additional accounts are impacted", the statement said.

Twitter Counter's Ginor added: "We do not store users' Twitter account credentials (passwords) nor credit card information".
