The family of an American slain in last week's terror attack in London expressed gratitude for the kindness of strangers on Monday, offering hope and resolve that some good would result from the tragedy.

Kurt and Melissa Cochran, from Utah, were on the final day of a trip to London to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary when they were caught up in the carnage last Wednesday.

They had been visiting his wife's parents in the United Kingdom capital when they were caught up in the carnage.

He and 10 other relatives traveled to London to be with Cochran's wife, Melissa, as she recovered from injuries sustained in the attack, including a broken leg and rib, and mourned her husband.

The couple, who had a recording studio business, were visiting Melissa Cochran's parents, who are missionaries in London for the Salt Lake City-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), also known as the Mormon church. The couple were initially scheduled to return to the US on Thursday.

Kurt and Melissa Cochran, who live in Utah, had been married for 25 years.

"It's been a tender experience for our family to be together with Melissa here".

Other victims include a mom of two who was killed while heading to pick up her daughters from school.
