In one clip, the kangaroo appears to whack Epps in the face, prompting the comedian to dart off stage.

Epps egged the handler on as he wanted to get the animal involved in the performance and even at one point grabbed the leash to hold it for a picture.

Actor and comedian Mike Epps is apologizing for dancing on stage with a kangaroo in front of a screaming crowd at a Detroit comedy show.

Stacks made news last week when a video showing him running with a leashed kangaroo through a Detroit neighborhood instigated an investigation by Detroit Animal Control and police, and concerns from the Michigan Humane Society. Another person said that she loved Mike Epps but "that sh*t with the kangaroo was wrong".

Several ticket holders were reported to be infuriated, saying "they're trash for doing this", and describing the scene as "violence" and "animal abuse".

A video, captured and published by The Shade Room, shows the comedian feeding a banana to a Kangaroo.

He finished equal 18th at last year's US Open in his only major start, but hasn't posted a victory since the 2013 Korean Open. Wednesday's deluge made muddy balls an ongoing problem for the Shell Houston Open golfers during Thursday's first round.

The kangaroo was repeatedly picked up during the show and led around on a leash, which is what has animal rights activists upset. These guys are license zoo keepers!

Epps attempted to defend himself against the criticism in an Instagram video over the weekend, but later apologized in an another post and pledged to donate to the Save the Kangaroo foundation.

Jovan Stacks, the owner of the kangaroo, said the animal is part of his exotic zoo business.

It's illegal to own a kangaroo in Detroit, but the handler, Javon Stacks, told MLive.com that he has a permit for the kangaroo and that the animal was only in town for a birthday party.

The Huffington Post reached out to a rep for Epps but did not hear back as of press time.
