The House of Delegates approved legislation Tuesday that would overhaul Maryland's system for regulating medical marijuana while expanding the number of grower's licenses to open the industry to minorities.

A North Dakota House committee has given a "do pass" recommendation on new rules governing the use of medical marijuana.

Del. Cheryl Glenn is the chair of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland and House bill's sponsor.

The bill cleared the Senate Ethics and Elections Committee with a 5-0 vote and now moves on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The House's version of the bill adds terminal illnesses to the list of debilitating conditions under which a patient could qualify for medical marijuana use, while cancer, post-traumatic stress disorder, Crohn's disease and others were already included in the bill.
