More advertisers say they've ditched O'Reilly show

  • 5 advertisers say they have ditched Fox's O'Reilly show

The moves came after a New York Times report said the cable news giant and O'Reilly had paid five women a total of US$13 million in the cases spanning 15 years, in exchange for their silence and agreement not to pursue litigation against Fox News, a favourite among conservatives.

The automakers Hyundai, BMW and Mitsubishi, the financial firm T Rowe Price, the personal finance site Credit Karma, the insurer Allstate, the drugmakers Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline, the pet food company Ainsworth, the men's shirt seller Untuckit, and the online marketing firm Constant Contact said Tuesday that they had joined Mercedes-Benz in pulling their ads from the show.

"As a company, we seek to partner with companies and programming that share our values of inclusion and diversity", Hyundai said in the statement.

Nine months after Fox News chief executive Roger Ailes was forced to resign over sexual harassment allegations, one of the network's star presenters has become embroiled in a deepening scandal that has prompted numerous companies to pull advertising from his show.

As of Tuesday evening, 20 companies had pulled their ads from the Fox primetime cable program, according to a report by CNN.

The last few days have been pretty brutal for Fox News from a public relations standpoint, as the disgusting, rotten core of the news organization is becoming clearer and clearer. "Fox News apparently doesn't get that basic concept". "We pulled future ads from the show".

"They care about their stands on the environment, they care about their stands on consumer issues, they care about their stands on workplace practices", said Marick Masters, a professor at Wayne State University.

Alex Rodriguez discusses his romance with Jennifer Lopez for the first time
After shying away from the spotlight, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are ready to take their relationship very public. Lopez has two children from her marriage to singer Marc Anthony, 9-year-old twins, Max and Emme .

In a statement posted on his website on April 1, O'Reilly wrote in part: "Just like other prominent and controversial people, I'm vulnerable to lawsuits from individuals who want me to pay them to avoid negative publicity". The NOW also asked for an independent investigation into the "culture of sexual harassment" at Fox News.

The network is still cashing in, but the advertiser exodus maintains some symbolism: the pressure is on for Fox News to figure out what to do with their most popular employee.

A spokesperson for Jenny Craig said that the organization "condemns any and all forms of sexual harassment", but declined to comment further.

The show produced over $178 million in ad revenue in 2015, said research firm Kantar Media.

"What I can tell you is that we are constantly evaluating our media buys to maximize the efficiency of our corporate investment and effectively reach our target audience", the Jenny Craig statement said.

AllState: The insurance company said "Inclusivity and support for women are important Allstate values".
