Apple to replace iPad 4th gen with iPad Air 2

20 April, 2017, 10:26 | Author: Abraham Jackson
  • Apple's iPad Air 2 is its most best-selling iPad ever

It came as quite the surprise when Apple recently introduced a new generation 9.7-inch iPad model at a lower price point than previous generation models, and with more onboard storage to boot. But on the other hand, some sources from inside the stores have mentioned that iPad 4 service units arrive in "fits and spurts" after depletion. The iPad Air 2 16 GB and 64 GB models were discontinued earlier.

This decision likely hinges on the availability of service stock in the stores and the report said that there are still enough supplies of "iPad 4" in 20 Apple Retail stores. Apple fans should be happy to know that they can turn in their device in Apple's store and receive a brand new iPad Air 2. This project has been put in motion since March 30 and it is going to last until Apple runs out of iPad Air 2 units. An internal memo obtained by 9To5Mac reads, "Starting March 30th, iPad 4th generation whole unit repairs may be substituted to iPad Air 2". In some very rare cases they can also replace it with the 2017 iPad. At the time of replacement, users may receive a slight upgrade in storage. That new iPad 4 is already in stores. But that was before Apple sent me a new iPad to check out.

To begin with, the iPad Air 2 has double the capacity of random access memory at 2 GB.

If you take your fourth-generation iPad into Apple for a fix, the company may replace your tablet with a newer iPad Air 2 instead.

iPad Pro mini is a trending device on the Internet these days. So it is only natural for the company to have the Air 2 more readily available.

For at least 20 years, Apple has been upgrading the customers' orders or service replacement, if the customers had to wait too long due to a lack of stock, and they didn't get their long-awaited device. The fourth generation iPad was discontinued in 2014, but Apple tends to support its devices for up to 5 years after their debut.
