The St. Louis Blues will look to sweep a series for the sixth time in franchise history in their Western Conference First Round series of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Minnesota Wild at Scottrade Center on Wednesday.

The 2001 sixth overall draft pick has played more games (843) for Minnesota than any player but only has two first-round playoff victories on his pelt.

St. Louis still leads the best-of-seven series 3-1 heading into Game 5 at Minnesota on Saturday.

The Wild never had a lead at any point in the first three games but were determined as they took the ice and it showed in the first period. For fun, I applied Jake Allen's regular save percentages to the extra low, mid and high danger shot totals to get an expected goals against related to these shots and the result was one goal.

"We look at it as, if you have to take (an icing) to get the puck out, that's what you have to do", Pietrangelo said.

"I'm just playing my game", Allen said. "We know the only thing that counts are how many wins we have, and right now, we've got zero".

"We were shooting and we were going to the net the first three games but nothing went in", Hanzal said.

The NHL doesn't track the success rate of teams in killing off sixth attackers, so it's hard to say where the Blues stand in comparison to others, but the Blues allowed just four goals in 32 times teams pulled their goalie against them in the regular season, with two of those goals being scored by the Wild.

Wednesday will be the time for the Wild to play this hand they were dealt...either the good times will roll in, or the 2017 season will officially be flushed. "The decision-making was a little slower today". We're counting on them to come through when it's crunch time. "Another tight one. Tonight, we end up losing because of those details".

"The whole team was great tonight", Hanzal said.

BOSTON (AP) - Bobby Ryan scored early in the third period, Craig Anderson stopped 22 shots and Ottawa grabbed a 3-1 lead in its first-round playoff series.

Allen kept the Blues in the game with a pad save on a point-blank attempt by Eric Staal midway through the third.

They held on to win and force a Game 5 in St. Paul, thanks in large part to a shutout from Devan Dubnyk. "If you can get on a roll and things start going for you, you can make this a series".

Regardless, the only thing that now matters is that the Blues are up 3-0 and need to take advantage of the opportunity to close out the series, get some needed rest, and avoid any injuries.

Wild forward Zach Parise said Tuesday he preferred the old playoff format, in which seeding was based on conference standings. Wild C Erik Haula (upper body) was scratched and was replaced by Joel Eriksson Ek.
