FBI chief says he had to tell Congress of Clinton email news

Comey will appear before a Senate committee on Wednesday, where he'll face questions on Russian interference in the U.S. election and why he made a decision to announce that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was looking again at Clinton's emails just days before the election.

First of all, Comey violated the FBI's and Justice Department's rules by interfering with a presidential election.

Comey sent a letter to Congress on October 28 saying the FBI had recovered thousands of emails in an unrelated probe and was reopening its investigation into whether Clinton may have mishandled classified information.

Comey was also tight-lipped in response to any probing questions about the progress of the FBI's investigation into possible collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign, refusing to answer when Sen.

Comey said he had been in contact with Former Attorney General Sally Yates, who is expected testify about Michael Flynn, Trump's national security adviser pick, in Congress next week. But he said the only other choice, "concealment", would have been "catastrophic".

On Tuesday Clinton said she partially blames her election defeat on Comey's decision to tell Congress the investigation would be revisited less than two weeks before election day. "There is no such thing", Clinton said in a question-and-answer-session with CNN's Christiane Amanpour. Clinton has been watching groups stand up to Trump from a distance and is "particularly fired up", to fund these groups and broaden their reach.

Trump had previously expressed confidence in Comey and said he had no plan to fire him. Clinton claims the decision cost her the election.

"It makes me mildly nauseous to think we might have had impact on the election", he said.

What was the second investigation into Clinton's emails about?

.

Maybe Comey is waiting to make a bombshell announcement about the Trump probe just before the 2020 election.

The FBI chief said Russian Federation is still interested in trying to affect US politics, and he believes it "a certainty" that Moscow will try to influence the elections in 2018 and 2020. USA intelligence agencies have concluded Moscow interfered in the 2016 election and hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and a top Clinton campaign official. "Lordy, that would be really bad", Comey said.

In that time, Comey touched on a variety of subtopics and revealed a lot of his thinking that had gone on behind the scenes.

"We treated it like we did the Clinton investigation", Comey maintained. He also warned that Russian Federation will likely attempt the same types of interference in the 2018 midterm elections.
