  • Business Insider Andy Kiersz data from SSA

For boys, Alexander dropped to No. 11 and Elijah cracked the top 10 for the first time ever, at No. 9. It was Noah's fourth consecutive year at the top of the list of male names, and Emma's third on the female side.

The Social Security Administration is the source for the ranking because parents give their children's name when they apply for social security cards.

The name Zayn also rose in 2016, which could be based on Zayn Malik, the former One Direction star, Forbes reported.

Perhaps the Kansas City Royals, who won the 2015 World Series, are the inspiration behind Royalty, according to the Social Security Administration. Hillary fell out of the top 1,000 names in 2009 and has not returned. For girls, it was Kehlani, as in Kehlani Parrish, a singer and songwriter nominated for a Grammy in 2016.

But while she certainly respects what Andrade brings to the fight, Jedrzejczyk also learned a few things about her from sparring. There's probably no other strawweight that has the power and strength that I have and that's going to show in the fight.

Every year, the list reveals the effect of pop-culture on names - evident from the two names who saw the biggest jump in popularity from 2015 to 2016. The agency first started creating the baby name list in 1997, with names dating back to 1880. This could be attributed to the return to the silver screen of America's favorite boxer Rocky Balboa in the 2015 movie Creed, where Rocky trains and mentors Adonis Johnson Creed, the son of his late friend and boxing rival, Apollo Creed.

Caitlyn placed in the top 500 in 2014 and in the top 600 in 2015, but in 2016, Caitlyn and the other three versions- Caitlin, Katelynn and Kaitlynn-didn't appear in the top 1,000 baby names at all.

As for other names in the headlines, the data showed Donald, as in President Donald Trump, fell 45 spots past year to No. 488.
