EU, China to reaffirm support for climate pact

Other world leaders have reacted with anger and defiance after President Trump announced that the United States, the world's second biggest carbon emitter, was quitting the 2015 Paris climate agreement. German government spokesperson Steffen Seibert, who was responding to a question about economic sanctions on USA, today told Reuters,"I think we can say that's not part of the German government's policy".

"The United States will cease all implementation of the non-binding Paris accord and the draconian financial and economic burdens the agreement imposes on our country", Trump said in a statement.

Despite the decision by the United States, the second biggest polluter after China, to pull out of the deal, many analysts suggest the shift to a low-carbon economy is now unstoppable, with renewable prices tumbling and new clean technology being developed and deployed.

Former President Obama said he was confident that American "States, cities, and businesses will step up and do even more to lead the way, and help protect for future generations the one planet we've got".

Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said earlier on Friday he did not think that Trump's decision to pull his country out of the agreement would prompt a Russian rethink. By abandoning this agreement, President Trump is showing the world that an American commitment can be reversed on a whim. As NPR has reported, "the only other countries not part of the agreement are Syria, which is in the midst of a civil war, and Nicaragua, which argued that the Paris accord did not go far enough to curb global emissions".

He noted, however, that the Fed's plan to push rates higher repeatedly later this year now looks far from certain. In late trading, the U.S. dollar index fell to a seven-month low and was last down 0.5 per cent at 96.725.

Trump says US will abandon global climate accord
But Trump didn't seem all that committed to opening up a new round of talks, saying of getting a deal, "if we can, that's great". Withdrawing would leave the United States aligned only with Russian Federation among the world's industrialized economies.

It's the paradox of tennis . "I think I played a good match, I think I played a solid match, hitting very well with the forehand". The 20-year-old Canadian qualifier's cause was not helped by 30 unforced errors during the match that lasted only 52 minutes.

Anifa Kawooya, the vice chairperson of the Parliamentary Forum on Climate Change (PFCC) describes Trump's action as "absurd".

In addition to these reactions on the social media, the heads of state for France, Germany and Italy issued an official statement making it clear that the clause of the Paris Agreement can not be renegotiated.

"We will not ignore the science and reality of climate change", he said, adding that Trump's "reckless" decision could have "devastating repercussions" for the planet.

While Mr Trump said the U.S. would be willing to rejoin the accord if it could obtain more favourable terms, the three European leaders said the agreement cannot be renegotiated, "since it is a vital instrument for our planet, societies and economics".

"The years to 2020 will be crucial in determining if the worst effects of climate change can be avoided".
