After gaining a Champions League winners medal - it seemed like it would be the ideal final chapter in Alvaro Morata's Real Madrid career.

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is backing a bid for Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata, even though they would be competing for places.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte failed with a bid to sign the Spanish global last summer as Real opted to keep hold, but he is hoping for more luck this time around.

The Sun are reporting that United have offered £52million for the 24-year-old Spain worldwide but have been been thwarted, with the Champions League winners telling Jose Mourinho to stump up over £78million.

United, meanwhile, have reportedly upped their interest in the striker with top target Antoine Griezmann set to stay at Atletico Madrid and Zlatan Ibrahimovic expected to leave for a new challenge elsewhere.

The newspaper says that Morata is valued at nearer £50m, which makes him a far more attractive proposition as United look to add a much-needed goal threat to their attack ahead of next season.

Morata made just 19 starts last season after being restricted to the role of back-up to Karim Benzema, but nevertheless racked up 20 goals and six assists in 1,872 minutes of play.

It seems AC Milan are pretty focused on signing Álvaro Morata.

Should United fail, they will then turn their attention to Torino striker Andrea Belotti, who has an £87.3 million release clause in his contract.

Morata is due to marry Italian girlfriend Alice Campello in Venice later in June and she is known to favour a return to her homeland over a move to England, where Chelsea are interested in the Spain striker.

"Milan? No, I certainly won't be in Italy", he told Mediaset Premium.

Real Madrid were quick to deny they had made a €60m bid for United keeper David De Gea last week, with the leak of this story and confirmation that the offer for Morata has been turned away unlikely to help relations between the two clubs.
