IRAQI forces are predicting an imminent victory to recapture Daesh's de-facto capital in the country.

The statement named many neighborhoods and commercial areas inside the old city still under the control of the extremist IS militants, including al-Farouq al-Thaniyah, Raas al-Kour, al-Maidan, Bab al-Jadid, Bab al-Toub and Sarijkhanah, along with other areas.

"The victory announcement will come in a very short time", Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on his website on Monday evening.

The Iraqi forces in Old Mosul now battle ISIS within hand-grenade range.

The US-led coalition of 69 members is conducting airstrikes, ground-based and rocket-propelled artillery fire against the Daesh in Syria and Iraq.

Hadarat Al-Saada and Al-Ahmadiyya are northwest of the historic Grand Al-Nuri Mosque, which the militants destroyed last week.

The US-led coalition against the Daesh terror group (outlawed in Russia) conducted 32 strikes consisting of 75 engagements in Iraq and Syria on Tuesday, including three strikes near Mosul, Operation Inherent Resolve said in a press release.

Federal police and elite units of the Counter-Terrorism Service have also been fighting inside the district's maze of narrow alleyways since the battle began 10 days ago.

A United States-led worldwide coalition is providing air and ground support in the eight- month-old offensive.

Only a handful of neighborhood remain to be cleared, al-Saadi said, standing atop a rooftop overlooking al-Faruq street which now marks the frontline, a few dozen meters (yards) from the old mosque.

Saadi said Daesh holds "very little" territory inside Mosul at the present moment, adding that he hoped the operation would be concluded within days. The Iraqi forces started attacking the western side of Mosul in February, a month after taking the side located east of the Tigris. The extremist group is using the civilians as human shields. There has been no confirmation of Russian reports over the past days that he has been killed.

IS-held Mosul has shrunk to just about 2 square kilometers in the ancient Old City district.
