The 10-month-old has a rare genetic disease and brain damage - he is one of only 16 known to have mitochondrial depletion syndrome. His medical condition is a genetic mutation that causes weakened muscles and organ dysfunction among many other health problems.
There is no known cure, but his parents had hoped to try an experimental treatment in the U.S. and had raised the funds through crowdfunding efforts.
A court order banned identification of the doctors and medical staff involved in the treatment and the name of the hospital in the United States where Charlie's parents hoped to take him for nucleoside bypass therapy treatment.
The court's ruling closed any further path of legal recourse and sealed Charlie's fate.
"Not only are we not allowed to take our son to an expert hospital to save his life, we also can't choose how or when our son dies", said Connie Yates, Charlie's mother, The Daily Mail reported.
According to the BBC, Connie Yates previously stated that if she and her partner were not allowed to take Charlie to the US for the experimental treatment, they would put the money donated to them by members of the public toward helping other children with mitochondrial disease.
"The domestic courts concluded that it would be lawful for the hospital to withdraw life-sustaining treatment because it was likely that Charlie would suffer significant harm if his present suffering was prolonged without any realistic prospect of improvement and the experimental therapy would be of no effective benefit", the court said in a press release announcing the decision Tuesday.

The couple had been set on Charlie coming home to die if it were to come to that.
Anti-migrant and anti-euro Northern League leader Matteo Salvini said the decision amounted to a "homicide" and strongly criticized doctors for reportedly refusing the parents' request to take their child home to die after their last appeal against their decision was denied. On 27 June, Charlie's parents' application was ruled inadmissible and rejected.
His parents had campaigned for doctors to keep him alive so he could travel to the U.S. for treatment.
Against his parents' wishes, baby Charlie will be taken off life support on Friday, June 30.
"The treatment has never been tried before on humans, and the American doctor who expressed a willingness to treat Charlie told the High Court "... Specifically, doctors have claimed that took keep Charlie alive would "continue to cause Charlie significant harm". They even said no to a hospice".
Medical professionals and the highest courts in the United Kingdom and Europe, however, have argued that no amount of treatment can ever make Charlie well.
