Following the introduction of the Surface as a Service program previous year, which provided Surface devices to businesses on subscription plans, Microsoft has debuted a similar offering aimed at consumers.

The plan encompasses every model of Surface, including the Surface Pro tablet/laptop hybrid, the Surface Studio PC, the Surface Book high-end laptop, and the new student-focused Surface Laptop. Surface Plus has been launched exclusively for the United States and it will be available starting today.

"The latest devices: Previously unavailable, customers can now finance a 55" Surface Hub in addition to the new Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, Surface Book, and Surface Studio to unlock the power of the group in their businesses.

The two plans, Surface Plus and Surface Plus for Business, are available at Microsoft.com or at Microsoft stores in the US. Every 18 months, you'll have the option to trade in your Surface for the latest and greatest model.

The business version of the program also includes upgrade rights, with the timing of the upgrade depending on the length of the agreement.

The program also comes with device services and support through Microsoft's retail locations and a year of free in-store technical assistance. Businesses can opt for an 18-, 24-, or 30-month contract and upgrade their devices after 12 months on the 24-month plan or after 18 months on the 30-month plan, as well as "expand or reduce their fleet mid-term". Surface Plus for Business will also let businesses get Office 365 for Business with an additional $8.25 per user per month.

Surface Plus and Surface Plus for Business is ownership, re-imagined.

The new Surface Pen initially went up for order in June, but only in one color: Platinum.
