  • Lucas Perez's agent accuses Arsenal of pricing striker out of transfer

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has expressed his frustration with the club's transfer dealings this summer - but has put paid to any fears that he will walk away from St James' Park.

"I don't think he will be prepared to manage a team that is treading water in the Premier League". "We are getting to more difficult matches so I am working hard to be a better player for this team".

But while Perez is of interest to Newcastle, Benitez says the club will have to sell players before being able to bring in any more signings.

The Magpies had kept tabs former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero and Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham, but the former moved to Stamford Bridge as a free agent, while the latter opted to join Swansea City on loan.

Speaking on the Sky Sports' Premier League launch show, the Spaniard admitted it had been a tough summer due to the uncertainty of the transfer market. "We are now trying to work in different directions".

But Benitez is unhappy that other Newcastle targets have been missed although he admitted that it has been hard. "Sometimes it's not what you want, it's what you need and what you can afford now".

Reserve Bank of Australia holds at record low 1.5% as expected
The Australian dollar was buying roughly 80.2 United States cents before Governor Lowe issued the strongly-worded statement. Mr Farnham said the RBA was unlikely to raise rates this year, and the possibility of a further cut could not be dismissed.

However, Estadio Deportivo report that despite Benitez going public there's been "no news from Newcastle".

"If we are still in the race it's because we believe there's a possibility and we will continue to fight because the truth is the player is looking forward to joining us".

The 21-year-old was sent home from Chelsea's pre-season tour of China after he made negative comments about the country on his Instagram account.

Owner Mike Ashley had promised Benitez "every last penny" to improve the squad, but fans are unhappy at how little has been done.

"It's very hard for me because my Chinese is not good enough", the Toon boss added.
