Conservative judge Roy Moore sails to victory in Alabama senate primary election

Moore, the former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, captured 39 percent of the primary vote, per the Associated Press. Luther Strange, an appointed incumbent backed by both President Donald Trump and heavy investment from establishment Republican forces.
Moore, who has been stripped of his judicial duties twice because of his stand against gay marriage and for his refusal to remove a monument to the Ten Commandments from the state courthouse, forced a runoff with odd in September when neither got more than 50 percent of Tuesday's primary vote. The two are headed to a runoff election on September 26.
With 66% of the vote, Democratic candidate Doug Jones came away with a victory from the U.S. Senate primary election on Tuesday. But his tenure was short-lived again: in 2016, Moore was suspended as chief justice after he directed probate judges not to issue marriage certificates to gay couples. After his third-place finish last night, Brooks declined to endorse Moore or unusual, although he did compliment Moore for running a "very honest campaign".
Moore is among a group of candidates for the seat previously held by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. With 96.99 percent of the 32 precincts in St. Clair County reporting, Doug Jones was the definitive victor in the Democratic primary, with over 70 percent of the votes.
"I can't help what they do behind doors in Washington, D.C.", Moore said.
