Conor McGregor Media Session
We thought the worst was about to happen. "It blew up and then he had such an ego about it and so much pride and he went running". McGregor, 29, said it was "sad the way it ended", but that it probably wasn't going to end any other way.

His departure opened up a congressional seat in a district where Republicans outnumber Democrats 5-to-1 in an area that stretches from the Salt Lake City suburbs and several ski towns southeast to Provo and Utah coal country. But there also is strong resentment to the way that the party ended its decades-old rule at conventions limiting primaries to the candidates who place first or second in the convention balloting. But the mail ballots in question were segregated and were set to be counted only after all other ballots were counted. But Curtis's opponents have already cast him as the candidate of Trump and his party. The former state representative helped run Sen.

Curtis, the target of most of the out-of-state attack ads, faced suspicion and criticism from some Republicans for his 2000 run as a Democrat for the state Legislature and his time leading a county Democratic party.

"Negative campaigns are effective, but I do think that tone and factual context also matters", he said. While Allen has raised almost a half-million dollars after challenging Chaffetz earlier this year, national Democrats have shown no sign of getting involved in the race.

A Republican Utah mayor celebrating a primary win will have to fend off competitors linking him to embattled President Donald Trump as he prepares for the general election to replace Jason Chaffetz in the U.S. House of Representatives.
