Myanmar finds itself increasingly isolated diplomatically as violence against the country's Muslim minority Rohingya spurs a humanitarian crisis, but an analyst said the country has found one prominent ally: India.

The new arrivals have reported widespread killing by security forces and Buddhist mobs, with homes looted and whole villages razed.

Rohingya refugees jostle to receive food distributed by local organizations in Kutupalong, Bangladesh, September 9, 2017.

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein said the full humanitarian situation in Rakhine state couldn't be fully assessed because of Myanmar's refusal to give access.

Suu Kyi, a Nobel peace laureate, has come in for strong global criticism over the military crackdown on the Rohingya, which began when militants ambushed security forces on August 25.

Bangladesh has been giving shelters to Rohingyas for decades and with the latest influx, the government says the number has hit 700,000.

A further 27,000 ethnic Rakhine Buddhists as well as Hindus have also fled violence that has gripped the northern part of the state.

Critics complain that Suu Kyi, who won a Nobel peace prize in 1991 for championing democracy, has failed to speak out for a minority of her country that has long complained of persecution.

Police arrested one man, 30-year-old Hnin Ko Ko Lin, who said the group acted because "they could not accept the things that happened in Rakhine", according to the government statement.

The United Nations says almost 300,000 Rohingya refugees have arrived in Bangladesh since attacks by Rohingya militants on Myanmar security forces in the violence-wracked Rakhine state on August 25 sparked a major military backlash.

About 500 houses south of the town were set on fire on Monday, a villager in the Maungdaw region, Aung Lin, told Reuters by telephone.

Cradling her naked screaming infant, Rohingya refugee Zohra Begum was close to tears as several hundred people were ordered to leave a strip of forest alongside the beach near Shamlapur, where families were clearing land with hoes to build shelters. "We will follow the others".

According to the United Nations refugee agency, three hundred thirteen thousand Rohingya Muslims have fled to Bangladesh.

The new camp will help relieve some pressure on existing settlements in the Bangladeshi border district of Cox's Bazar, where almost 300,000 Rohingya have arrived since August 25.

It remains unclear when or whether they will be able to return.

"All indications point to the Myanmar security forces deliberately targeting locations that Rohingya refugees use as crossing points", Amnesty official Tirana Hassan said in a statement Sunday.

"The Zionist regime's plot to cleanse its cruel and child-killing image and promote the culture of cruelty and oppression against children, the elderly and innocent people in coordination with the government of Myanmar shows a terrible and organized crime against the deprived Rohingya Muslims", Ali Akbar Velayati, the secretary general of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, said in a statement on Saturday.
