  • Naval nurses booted over disturbing pics, posts of 'mini Satan' newborns

The hospital also said that the employees "will be handled by the legal system and military justice" but did not elaborate on whether that would entail disciplinary actions or criminal charges.

"We are aware of a video/photo posted online", the hospital's commanding officer said over Facebook.

In the second photo, another employee is seen grabbing the arms of a newborn baby and holding them up.

Both Snaps later went viral on the internet, thanks in part to a Facebook post originally created by one of Thompson's high school classmates condemning the nurses' actions.

A Facebook post, shared over 180,000 times, depicts a hospital staff member flipping off a baby with the caption "How I now feel about these mini Satans".

The Naval Hospital Jacksonville posted an apology via Facebook, calling the posts "outrageous". Another picture shows a staff member making an obscene gesture at an infant.

'We're in the process of notifying the patient's parents'.

"Getting removed from their jobs. great".

"What is going on at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville", asked another.

It was not immediately clear if the nurses had been or will be fired, as the hospital only announced they had removed the women from active care as they investigated the incident. The statement comes after some questionable social media posts involving newborns.
