At 11.10 a.m., the 30-share BSE index Sensex was up 24.01 points or 0.07 per cent at 32,426.38 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty was down 2.5 points or 0.02 per cent at 10,145.05.

The BSE market breadth was bearish with 1,311 declines and 1,293 advances.

The Nifty50 closed at 10,147.55 points after touching a fresh high of 10,178.95 points during intra-day trade, while the Sensex closed at 32,402.37 points - down 21.39 points, or 0.07 per cent.

"Markets ended marginally lower on Wednesday as the Nifty continued to consolidate".

The outcome of the two-day US Federal Reserve meeting is slated for later in the evening (India time).

"Broad market indices like the BSE mid-cap and small-cap indices lost a little more, thereby underperforming the main indices".

The Sensex has so far touched a high of 32,499.88 points and a low of 32,399.84 during intra-day trade. Tata Motors fell 1.98 per cent to Rs 415.50. On the other hand, auto index fell 0.39 per cent, metal 0.38 per cent, oil & gas 0.33 per cent and TECk 0.31 per cent.

Hero MotoCorp finished at the bottom on the Sensex list, falling 2.29 per cent to Rs 3,858.10, following profit taking activity.

Among major gainers, ITC, Reliance Industries, Dr Reddy's and HDFC rose up to 3 per cent.
