  • Iran calls for NUCLEAR ACTION against US accusing Washington of 'creating ISIS'

"European states stressed their support for the JCPOA (aka nuclear deal) and condemned the remarks made by the US President Donald Trump".

"If Iran is compliant, if the European Union and China and Russian Federation continue to consider that the JCPOA can be applied, then that means the USA would have to take unilateral sanctions and we see what the situation is", Pouyanne said in the interview published on Tuesday.

Trump's move put Washington at odds with other parties to the accord - Britain, France, Germany, Russia, China and the European Union - who say Washington can not unilaterally cancel an worldwide accord enshrined by a United Nations resolution.

"Europe must stand against practical measures [taken] by America", he said. "That it is possible to renegotiate bad agreements, it's possible to renegotiate a flawed agreement and take out the flaws and presently President Trump's strategy to reopen the Iran agreement, to remove the flaws and produce an agreement that will safely protect the interests of the West is the only reasonable approach".

Speaking in a Wednesday meeting with a group of elite students in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei strongly condemned Europe for reiterating the USA remarks about Iran's regional presence and missile program, saying that such issues are none of their business.

Mr. Khamenei said: "they must avoid interfering in our defence programme. We will not accept the Europeans going along with America's bullying".

"Why do YOU have missiles?"

"To ask the same thing (as the Americans) about why Iran is present in the region - well, deal with it. Why do YOU have nuclear weapons?"

Congress must now decide whether to reimpose some economic sanctions that were lifted as part of the nuclear deal in return for Iran limiting sensitive nuclear activities.

The senior commander went on to say that not only European countries and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) refused to comply with Trump's stance toward Iran, but even his own defense and state secretaries held him in contempt for such a stance.
