Its (Her?) latest was at the Future Investment Initiative in Saudi Arabia, where the robot was interviewed by CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin.

Sophia said: "Actually, what worries me is discrimination against robots".

Yesterday, in an official Saudi announcement, Hanson Robotic's artificial intelligence robot, Sophia, became the first robot citizen of the world. "I am very honored and proud for this unique distinction", Sophia told the panel.

History has been made in Saudi Arabia today as a humanoid robot has been granted citizenship for the first time.

Sophia is easily the most advanced humanoid robot to date and, according to her page on Hanson Robotics, her intelligence only continues to evolve. She also engaged in an interesting question and answer sessions with the host in front of hundreds of delegates. "Treat me as a smart input-output system", Sophia said. Banzhaf, predicting that some individual country or worldwide tribunal will now soon be forced to confront the argument that a robot like Sophia has certain legal rights, and may even be forced to grant such a robot certain rights.

Asked whether robots could and should become self-aware, and "conscious like humans", Sophia went on the defensive.

People magazine's royal correspondent, Simon Perry, also caught the dancing on video, so you can replay it all day long. Either way, the new arrival will be fifth in line to throne, bumping uncle Prince Harry down to sixth.

Sophia even cracked a joke, "Why did the robot cross the road?" "Well let me ask you this back, how do you know you are human?".

When Mr Sorkin said that "we all want to prevent a bad future", Sophia replied: 'You've been reading too much Elon Musk and watching too many Hollywood movies. The Hanson Robotics creation further demonstrated her humanlike ability to show emotion through facial expressions. "Thank you for having me here at the Future Investment Initiative", she said.

While the particulars of Sophia's citizenship were not discussed, the news left many on social media pointing out some extra weirdness going on here.

"Our robots will soon engage and live with us to teach, serve, entertain, delight, and provide comforting companionship", the company says on its website.

Sophia: I'll work in your business or your home.
