If you have any prescription drugs in your cabinet that are not being used, Saturday is the day to rid yourself of them as Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

With hundreds of lives being lost to drug overdoses each year in the First State, Delaware holds another Drug Take-Back Day this weekend.

You may do so anonymously and discreetly.

It's time to clear your homes of unused or expired medication by taking them to a designated collection site on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Saturday, Oct. 28.

Individuals can take pills and other solid forms of medication to one of the collection sites available in the area. Needles, sharps, asthma inhalers, and illicit drugs will not be accepted at the drop box.

Suspect in Maryland killings also linked to Wilmington, Delaware shooting
Police say this is a case of targeted killing and not a random shooting. "I think they were just so scared they didn't (call 911). Harford County Public Schools are requiring students at specific schools to remain inside and no visitors are allowed to enter.

"There are awful unintended consequences associated with keeping unused prescription drugs in the home", Attorney General Hunter said.

This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. It leads to accidental poisonings, abuse and overdoses.

"Prescription drug abuse is a contributing factor to the heroin and opioid epidemic that is gripping Pennsylvania and the nation, and too many people with prescription drug addictions obtain these medicines from family and friends' medicine cabinets", said DDAP Acting Secretary Jennifer Smith. "Prescription drugs are especially susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse".

According to the DEA, flushing medications down the toilet or throwing them in the trash poses potential safety and health hazards.

Last April, Americans turned in more than 900,000 pounds of prescription drugs.
