ESPN reported that Bradford visited Dr. James Andrews in Florida on Tuesday to have his ailing left knee reevaluated.

In order to make room for Bridgewater on the 53-man roster, the Vikings placed veteran quarterback Sam Bradford on injured reserve, thus shutting him down for the rest of the regular season.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was listed as a full participant in Wednesday's practice, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The team had a Wednesday deadline to decide Bridgewater's status for the rest of the 2017 season after he spent the first six weeks sidelined on the physically unable to perform list before being medically cleared to return to practice on October 18.

Since then, Bradford has been inactive for three straight games and much unknown still remains when it comes to how severe the quarterback's knee injury actually is.

Mortensen says Andrews had previously shared that Bradford's knee is structurally sound, and nothing he saw during Tuesday's procedure would indicate anything different.

Sources said the transition has been in the works for the past several months. It subsequently amended its required filings.

The move ends Bradford's season, leaving Bridgewater and Case Keenum to duke it out for the starting job. He'll earn $18 million in 2017 from the Vikings with a $14 million base salary and a $4 million roster bonus.

Bradford, acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles after Bridgewater's injury a year ago, has been battling an ailing knee since leading the Vikings to a 29-19 win over the New Orleans Saints in the 2017 opener.

Bridgewater has been out since August 28th, 2016 after suffering multiple injuries to his knee.

Bradford has a 9-8 record as a starter in Minnesota and has thrown 23 touchdowns to five interceptions with a 71.8 completion percentage.

The Vikings play the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field on Sunday.

The Vikings' 2014 first-round pick tore his ACL and dislocated the left knee during a late August practice previous year.
