The announcement of the new sanctions came one day after the U.S. government relisted North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism, with President Donald Trump calling it a "murderous regime".

North Korea has described as an absurdity, the decision by the United States to re-list North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism, with a foreign ministry spokesman warning it was a quote: "serious provocation". The alliance comes as North Korea is increasingly isolated from the worldwide community as its nuclear threats against the US continue.

It was that year that Bush removed North Korea from the "terror" list in hopes of persuading North Korea to abide by agreements hammered out in six-party talks calling for a specific schedule for dismantling its nuclear program.

The world's second-largest economy bought goods worth $90.75 million from North Korea in October, down sharply from $145.8 million in September and the lowest on government records going back to January 2014, data from China's General Administration of Customs shows.

These and other sanctions will surely give North Korea a hard time.

After a recent string of missile tests, and its sixth and largest nuclear test in September, North Korea's military testing has been quiet, raising speculation that Pyongyang may be waiting to see what the US offers to entice it to join talks. The U.S. has maintained North Korea must cease its program before negotiations can begin.

Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi's Son Killed With Four Other Militants In Hajin Encounter
Defence spokesman told media that the slain militants includes LeT Commander Mahmood Bhai. An Air Force commando, who was also part of the operation, lost his life.

Literally, it means North Korea would join Iran, Sudan and Syria on the list of state sponsors of terror.

Such a decision had been largely expected in view of the recent case of Otto Wambier, an American college student who died after 17 months of detention in North Korea, and the apparent assassination of a half brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in a Malaysian airport in February this year. The spokesperson noted that their actions included expulsion of North Korean workers and diplomats.

Air China's decision came shortly after a visit by a senior Chinese envoy to the North Korean capital of Pyongyang.

North Korea did not immediately respond to being accused again of sponsoring terrorism but lashed out at Trump for insulting the leadership in Pyongyang during a speech this month in South Korea.

"It has become nearly a cliché in policy circles to state that North Korea is a rational, strategic actor". One of his favorite comments is the USA should have re-designated North Korea as a sponsor of terror "a long time ago" - that was a dig against Obama's policy of "strategic patience" in dealing with the North.
