  • Deutsche Bank turns over Trump documents after Mueller subpoena: Report

Judge Andrew Napolitano said US special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election, reportedly subpoenaing Deutsche Bank is risky for President Donald Trump.

News broke Tuesday morning that Deutsche Bank has given Mueller's investigation Trump's personal bank account information.

Mueller is investigating Russian attempts to influence the 2016 USA presidential election and possible collusion by Trump associates.

Holding Trump debt, particularly if some of it was or is soon due, could potentially give Russian banks some leverage over the US President, especially if they are state-owned, said a second US official familiar with Russian intelligence methods.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, insisted the Bloomberg report was wrong at her Tuesday press briefing.

An internal investigation carried out by Deutsche Bank didn't yield any evidence of connections between the client relationship with Trump and the bank's so-called Russian mirror trades affair, a person briefed on the matter said.

"Several news outlets-including Bloomberg-reported yesterday that the subpoena targeted Trump and his family's bank records, which was disputed by Trump's personal lawyer and the White House", the new Bloomberg story acknowledges. Bloomberg had originally reported that Mueller "zeroed in" on Trump.

"Deutsche Bank New York, even though he sued them, even though he wrote them one of the most ridiculous writs in legal history, continued to lend very large sums to Trump, while simultaneously its Moscow division was running a - I was going to say elaborate, but in fact it was actually quite crude, large-scale money laundering scheme for Kremlin VIPs, who are still anonymous, from which Deutsche Bank London and Deutsche Bank New York made big profits", he says.

"We have confirmed that the news reports that the special counsel had subpoenaed financial records relating to the president are false", Sekulow said. Others, as you'll see, said that Judicial Watch's Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow was the Trump lawyer who denied this subpoena claims.

Deutsche Bank has been served.

Deutsche's connections to Russia aren't merely hypothetical: The bank has previously paid $670 million to US and United Kingdom regulators over its role in a Russian money-laundering scheme, but a Department of Justice inquiry into a $10 billion scheme has stalled for unclear reasons. Representative Maxine Waters of California and other Democrats have asked whether the bank's loans to Trump, made years before he ran for president, were in any way connected to Russian Federation.

As Mueller's investigation unfolds, Trump has gone on the offensive.

Trump told the New York Times this past summer he would consider it a "violation" if Mueller were to expand the probe beyond Russian Federation. I think that's a violation.

All of those loans were taken out in 2012 and will mature in 2023 and 2024, according to the disclosure.

During his election campaign, Mr Trump said he would seek to improve ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which were strained during former president Barack Obama's administration.

A spokesman for Manafort declined to comment. The charges were brought as part of Mueller's investigation.
