During a news conference from Camp David Saturday, President Trump once again railed against Michael Wolff, author of Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, calling the book a "work of fiction" and denying ever granting Wolff an interview or allowing him in the Oval Office.

At another moment during the interview, Miller discussed Steve Bannon, saying, "It's tragic and unfortunate that Steve would make these grotesque comments so out of touch with reality and obviously so vindictive".

He also lauded Trump as a "political genius". CNN reported that Trump Jr. was sent the email on September 4, 2016, days before a trove of stolen emails were publicly released.

Miller called Tapper's comment "condescending" and said it was a 'snide remark, ' broadening that point to the whole of CNN.

When Tapper tried to get him back on track to talk about the meeting, Miller replied, 'I have no knowledge of anything to do with that meeting'.

During the contentious interview, Miller offered largely combative responses and focused on presenting Trump as a "political genius", repeatedly refusing to answer questions until Tapper chose to cut him off and move to the next segment.

Tapper grew exhausted of Miller repeating pro-Trump and anti-Bannon talking points and called the aide's constant interruptions "hysterical, ' as he cut the interview short by announcing, 'I think I've wasted enough of my viewers" time'.

Miller then repeatedly attempted to pivot to criticism of CNN, a favorite Trump target.

President Trump's former chief strategist - who suffered a public falling-out with the White House last week after he was quoted as criticizing the president and his family in a new book - offered an apology of sorts Sunday, praising Trump in a public statement and trying to soften the earlier scathing comments.

Before he was cut off, Miller fumbled when asked whether Trump met the Russian operatives after his son, Donald Trump Jr., got together with them in the infamous June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower.

"I think I have wasted enough of my viewers' time", Tapper told Miller as he abruptly ended the aide's air-time.

"I was a very excellent student, came out and made billions and billions of dollars, became one of the top businesspeople, went to television and for 10 years was a tremendous success as you probably have heard, ran for president one time and won", he said. On Twitter, Trump insisted that he was a "very stable genius" in defense of some critics speculating about his mental health.
