Ford Edge ST arrives with 335 horsepower

Ford Motor Co has always tried to satisfy customers need for safety and high performance with its sedans.

Well, that soon will change.

The Edge is the first Ford SUV to get a performance-focused ST model, which will be part of a refreshed Edge lineup that will be on display at the Detroit auto show next week. The 2019 Ford Edge ST will be powered by the automaker's 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 that appears in the Fusion Sport and Edge Sport, but with a small power bump to bring it up to ST levels of performance.

Coming up as the first Ford crossover to boast some major performance tweaks, the 2019 Ford Edge ST sports a new trim, a new look, and plenty of exciting features. That is connected to a quicker-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission that routes power to all four wheels. That trans has paddle shifters.

It's only two years since the Ford Edge SUV arrived in the United Kingdom market as a big brother to the Kuga and Ecosport in Ford's SUV range, but it's already getting a bit of a facelift.

While the Edge ST may not be offered to United Kingdom buyers, standard models in the United Kingdom will benefit from the raft of visual changes such as the reshaped headlamps and grille brought in by the facelifted model.

The auto also has an embedded modem and Wi-Fi, able to fire up a hot spot with a 50-foot range, allowing up to 10 devices to connect to it.

As expected from Ford, both Edge ST and Edge are gaining some new technology for 2019.

This model will be produced in Canada out of the Oakville Assembly Plant in Ontario, arriving at North American dealerships Summer 2018. Drivers can also upgrade to SYNC 3 with an 8-inch touchscreen for enhanced in-vehicle experience.
