The Supreme Court will hear the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case next on 14 March, as a "pure land dispute", it ruled on Thursday. It did not commit to a "dayto- day" hearing of the case.

Commenting on the matter, Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra had said the Supreme Court will treat the matter as "pure land dispute". "Whatever be the case, it is after all a land dispute. There are appeals and cross-appeals". The bench also refused permission to 32 activists and eminent personalities, including Teesta Setalvad, Shyam Benegal, Aparna Sen, Medha Patkar and Aruna Roy to intervene in the dispute. It also permitted "applications seeking filing of documents which have been exhibited before the High Court" and "applications for deletion of parties".

The Bench chose to keep pending all intervention applications filed by those who were not parties to the dispute before the Allahabad High Court. But the court found that despite its December 5 order, the pleadings were not yet complete to allow the case to be ripe for commencement of hearing. Books including Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana were submitted in the apex court on Thursday, along with 87 witness depositions. The other party said it will translate whatever was required and turn it over. After holding talks with spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Nadvi said that he would also support the construction of a university at the site.

A civil suit for deciding the title of the property on which the Babri Masjid stood before it was demolished on 6 December 1992 had been filed before the high court.

Only parents can sign up children to Messenger Kids, and all contacts need to be approved by a parent before a child can chat. Launched in December 2017, Messenger Kids is a new advertising-free Facebook app targeted at six-to-12-year olds.

Senior advocate Rajeev Dhavan, who also appeared for the Muslim parties, urged the court that it should hear the matter on day-to-day basis.

The 32 petitioners include slain filmmaker Safdar Hashmi's brother Sohail Hashmi, documentary maker Anand Patwardhan, academics Ganesh Devy, Jayati Ghosh, Kalpana Kannabiran, Muniza Khan and G Haragopal, editors Om Thanvi and Kumar Ketkar, businessman Cyrus Guzder, writer Kiran Nagarkar, Rupa Mody whose son, Azhar Mody went missing during the 2002 Gujarat riots and many other eminent personalities from diverse backgrounds.

He said the apex court once again adjourned the hearing on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute.

Taking exception, Mehta told the court that "this kind of hyperbole should be avoided". He said the "judgment of the High Court insults justice".
