Its aim is to help you easily transfer the photos you have on your phone to your Windows 10 PC.

Microsoft notes that Photos Companion aims to ease the struggle of quickly transferring images between mobile and PC. And, of course, it only works on Windows 10 and only if the two communicating devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. other than that, however, there is little else that needs to be done to get your photos off your phone and into your computer. While ARM versions are still compiled for the apps, they are either developed with new APIs which aren't supported by Windows 10 Mobile, or they aren't being optimized anymore for Mobile.

This is a frustration Microsoft understands well if the company's latest experimental Garage program project is anything to go by. If you're not seeing the "import from mobile over Wi-Fi" option in the Photos app for Windows 10, you might need to enable the "show additional preview features" option in the settings section of the Photos app for Windows 10. After scanning the code successfully you need to select the media type you to transfer to the PC. It's called Photos Companion and its name is pretty self-explanatory.

The new version (8.2) of the Microsoft Store App Developer Agreement updates the tax language for developers in New Zealand and Australia, clarify new GST registration requirements for New Zealand App Developers and updated the Microsoft Subsidiary acting as agent in Australia and New Zealand.

It is to be noted that you already have the option to back up your photos and videos to a cloud service, such as Google Drive, iCloud, or even Microsoft's OneDrive. However, the app is considered to be useful to anyone "who is looking to complete an epic video project, send media to a friend's PC, or just get that one special photo onto their computer so it can be edited and turned into the next great post, cover photo, or presentation". So the Garage and Photos team opted for a Wi-Fi based direct transfer system. However, the app seems important for students and educators.

Microsoft has launched a new app for both Android and iOS today.
