The British police have launched an investigation after an envelope containing suspicious white powder was sent to Prince Harry and his fiancé Megan Markle, according to a local daily on Thursday.

Ms Markle and Prince Harry - who are due to Wednesday on May 19 - have been informed of the incident, London's Evening Standard newspaper reports.

One report of the incident has suggested that it contained a malicious communication that was racist in nature.

They are also believed to be examining whether there is a link between the two incidents.

Security will be tight, especially since the happy couple will take to the streets following their nuptials - taking a carriage ride around Windsor, following the ceremony in St George's Chapel at Windsor castle.

A letter addressed to the royal and his actress fiancee and claiming to containing the infectious disease in a white powder form was sent to their Kensington Palace residence on 12 February (18).

A day later, the Met Police confirmed a package with a suspicious substance had been received at the Houses of Parliament.

The police spokesman has refused to comment on the state of the investigation.

"Prince Harry is anxious about Ms Markle's safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her", Knauf said then.

When their relationship was first revealed in 2016, Harry issued a strongly-worded statement against media harassment of his mixed-race girlfriend.

However, neither Kensington Palace, where Harry and Meghan live, nor the Metropolitan Police has confirmed if this was the case.
