  • Why the Warriors didn't visit the White House

"I think we wear teams down a little bit", coach Steve Kerr said after Monday's win against the New York Knicks, another game in which the Warriors upped the ante in the third quarter.

Donald Trump prevoiusly revoked the reigning champions' White House invitation after Stephen Curry publicly said he was unlikely to attend.

"I went in just like one of those kids, just trying to learn and just happy to be there", Durant said. "We're just going to go hang out with some kids and take them to the African American museum and hopefully teach them things we learned along the way - life lessons - and just hope we give them some great memories". Last September, Warriors point guard Stephen Curry had publicly waffled on the prospect of visiting with President Trump, prompting Trump to tweet that the invitation had been "withdrawn".

Tonight will be the Wizards' greatest challenge yet as they'll play host to the defending champion Golden State Warriors.

In town ahead of their game against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night (Thursday, Manila time), Warriors players, coaches and front office executives met with students from Durant's hometown of Seat Pleasant, Maryland, which is eight miles from the White House.

Even though the team declined a White House invite past year after their victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, the team met up with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Rep Barbara Lee - both California Democrats - in Washington Wednesday after a game against the Wizards. The Warriors wanted to make the day about community service, and they all said it was a great experience. While the Warriors aren't chasing history and going for the best regular season record of all time, they still have four All-Stars in their starting lineup and are the favorites to win another title this June.

"Getting to hang around with the best team in the National Basketball Association, the world champions, we never got that opportunity at that age", Durant told the Washington Post. And it might take 24, 26 minutes to really create that separation and gain that momentum, and we come out of the halftime with some juice, some energy and it's winning time.

The Golden State Warriors are one of the NBA's most socially conscious and politically outspoken teams. "Instead of unifying and trying to calm the storm, he's creating it", Kerr said in November.

They should be well-rested for their meeting with the Washington Wizards (36-25), who won their fifth game in their last six outings as they beat the Milwaukee Bucks last night, 107-104. I'm doing whatever my brothers want to do.
