Queen Elizabeth 1981 Assassination Attempt Revealed ... New Zealand Officials Covered It Up

  • Queen Elizabeth II visits Marlborough House

Christopher Lewis, then 17, hid in a toilet cubicle on the fifth floor of a building overlooking the Royal Parade where the Queen was in clear shot, waving to onlookers from her open auto in Dunedin, New Zealand. No one was hurt and police reportedly assured members of the royal party who asked about a gunshot that they had simply heard a firework exploding.

The official story began falling apart in the 1990s, as several people close to the investigation began talking to the media, and particularly with the publication of the book "Coverups and Copouts", by retired police officer Tom Lewis, published in 1998.

If Netflix's The Crown was already any indication that Queen Elizabeth II has led an eventful life, recent news of a potential "assassination attempt" just might make for an entire episode later down the line.

The papers reveal that the "anti-royalist" hid on a balcony, which was overlooking the Royal Parade in Dunedin, a city on the South Island, on 4th October. Along the route, a 17-year-old named Christopher John Lewis sat on the fifth floor of a building holding a.22-caliber rifle.

Lewis was never charged with attempting to kill the Queen as she visited Dunedin in 1981. The documents also suggest Lewis missed the shot due to an unsuitable vantage point and a poorly powered rifle.

Lewis was only charged with unlawful possession and discharge of a firearm, not attempted murder or treason - fueling speculation the incident was downplayed to prevent embarrassment to New Zealand.

Toronto man faces murder charges in six men's deaths
December 8, 2017 - Police Chief Mark Saunders says the force will review its practices in missing persons investigations. The Toronto man was a subject of Project Prism, and police have said he had a sexual relationship with McArthur.

"It will be like ripping the scab off.so much pus would come out", he said. The shot was sacked by Christopher Lewis, a man who was said to have a deep-seated hatred for the royal family, and was later accused of murdering a mother and abducting her child.

"Given the passage of time, it is anticipated this examination of the old file and its associated material will take some time", a police spokesman said.

But Lewis later confided to police both the accomplices and the "army" were figments of his imagination.

Lewis served an initial jail term and went on to commit armed robberies and be charged with murder.

Lewis, who had been arrested for a series of criminal convictions, killed himself at the Mt Eden Prison in Auckland, New Zealand in 1997.

The revelations made by the SIS have prompted a police inquiry into the case, with a New Zealand police spokeswoman explaining in a statement to Reuters that the commissioner had ordered the case file be examined.
