It was said that on March 5, diplomats will be able to provide only emergency services to people on March 5, when the US Embassy to Turkey is closed for security reasons. It was not immediately clear whether the arrests were connected to the closure of the embassy.

The arrests were coincidental with the closure of the U.S. embassy in Ankara for unclear security threat.

The embassy said it would make an announcement when it was ready to reopen.

"We appreciate the continuing strong support we receive from the Turkish National Police and Turkish security services in making our facilities as safe as possible", Gainer said.

In raids in the capital Ankara, 12 other suspects, all foreigners whose nationalities authorities did not reveal, were arrested as part of an investigation into the group. Media reported that the operation targeting Daesh was planned well before the USA sources warned the local authorities about the threat.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdağ said that Turkey is the country most effectively fighting against Daesh.
