  • Alton Sterling 37 was killed by police outside the Triple S Food Mart in Baton Rouge Louisiana

Newly-released police footage shows the officer killed Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in July of 2015 called him a "stupid ass motherf*cker" after fatally shooting him.

The second officer, Howie Lake, was suspended for three days for failing to maintain his composure.

The body camera footage, obtained by The Advocate (Baton Rouge), shows officers arriving at a convenience store in Baton Rouge where Sterling, who is black, was selling homemade CDs.

According to the Justice Department, which reviewed the shooting, the officers ordered Sterling to put his hands on the hood of a vehicle. One of them appeared to yell, "He's got a gun!" before shots rang out.

"We have two officers involved in one incident", he said. Salamoni was terminated by the department and Lake was put on suspension.

The officers were responding to a 911 call about a man brandishing a gun and threatening someone in the parking lot of the Triple S Food Mart.

The report from Landry's office repeatedly describes movements that appear to have been viewed on video recordings. The testimony provided by our officers and witnesses and the recommendation from our board members during the disciplinary hearings.

He said many of his officers are great "guardians for the community" and stressed policing isn't easy. He said that Officer Howie Lake answered all the questions, but that Salamoni, under advisement from counsel, did not answer any questions. "I hope this brings some closure to them". After seeing the video of Salamoni killing Sterling, she said, "you'll cry again". "And when you cry again, you'll be telling the Sterling family, 'I'm sorry'".

A Louisiana police chief said Friday he has fired the white officer who fatally shot a black man during a struggle outside a convenience store almost two years ago, a killing that set off widespread protests. On a cell phone video showing part of the shooting, Salamoni can be heard yelling that Sterling had a gun.

Sterling says the officers are hurting his arm. Lake's lawyer, Kyle Kershaw, said his client's actions complied with department procedures.

"No matter what evidence we give them (at the hearing), they're not going to listen". They also said they are happy Salamoni was sacked, but disappointed that Attorney General Jeff Landry did not allow the case to be presented before a grand jury.

Speaking to member Yolanda from Bolivia, Kate said: "I've done that with George and Charlotte - making pizza dough". Just days after stepping out in an emerald dress and coat at the St.

"Shame on him", she said of Landy. "It is vital that lessons are learned from this tragedy and that we apply our knowledge to prevent future incidents and implement policies that make this community safer and more unified".

The disciplinary actions follow Tuesday's announcement by Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry that the officers will not face state criminal charges, and Sterling's family and attorneys said they will now focus on their civil lawsuit against Baton Rouge police.

Sterling's death, and the decision not to prosecute the officers, has fueled African Americans' frustration with a legal system that fails to convict officers.

The officers told The Advocate (Baton Rouge) that they would appeal the decision if fired. "The person who stood by and let him be out of control was Howie Lake, and that's a tragedy", he said.

Sterling then placed his hands on the hood of the vehicle. Salamoni appears to quickly take over the situation and nearly immediately begins shouting vulgarities and threats at Sterling.

Lake's video then shows Sterling's body, motionless on the ground and bleeding.

As it announced Salamoni's firing the department also released new, graphic video of the confrontation that led to Sterling's death captured by the body camera Salamoni was wearing. Lake helped wrestle Sterling to the ground but didn't fire his weapon that night.

As they both straddled him, they screamed: 'Don't move, I swear to God!' As one of the officers sits on the ground, the other can be seen pulling an object from Sterling's right pocket. Salamoni shouts. Sterling continues to ask what he did.

Lake removed a loaded.38-caliber handgun from Sterling's right front pocket, the report says. He just kept asking Salamoni and Lake what he had done.

The feds cited use-of-force experts who determined the officers' actions were reasonable under the circumstances - including that the two employed several less-than-lethal techniques before using force, and that Sterling struggled with the officers and failed to follow orders.

The Justice Department also said evidence couldn't prove or disprove Salamoni's assertion that Sterling was reaching for a gun.
